LIES AND DECEPTION
What are lies? To tell a non-truth, to exaggerate a story. Deception, to deceive, not real, unbelievable. You may ask why is this important? well lets see why. Their have been many observers are doubters that say the Xpress are not having a team, the Xpress do not have players, they are even saying that the Xpress do not have Quality athletes, WELL ALL THESE ARE LIES! Those same observers want many to think that a particular organization is the best thing since slice bread, and that their are no problems in that organization. WELL THAT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME DECEPTION! The Xpress does have a team, the Xpress are 40 + players strong, the Xpress have recruited and signed many rookies, and Veteran free agents. The team is faster, stronger, and more athletic then any other team I have ever coached at this level. The season is only 7 weeks away, and the Xpress have 2 pre-season games in the next 5 weeks. So for all the outside observers and all the doubters come check out the Xpress as we take on the Dallas Warriors, and the Grand Prairie Titans on January 31st, and February 7th. AND DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR POPCORN!

Far And Near
The season seems to be far away but when you look at it, the preseason is near and around the corner, we will have our first preseason game January 31ST against the Dallas Warriors, and many of you need to step your game up and give 120% while you are at practice. The attendance is still at an unacceptable level and it needs to improve immediately! If you have not been attending practice and you know who you are, you need to get there before the Xpress decide to release you! the season kicks off Feb 21 and we are no wear near being ready, and what seems to be far away, will be here in your face sooner then you think. So what you see as being far is a lot closer then you think. We have 13 practices before our first preseason game and you need to ask yourself, are you truly ready for the 31st of January? Stay tuned for whats to come for the Xpress, our new website, and being able to shop on line through the Xpress store and purchase Nike shoes, Nike Apparel, and all of your DFW Xpress authentic gear and season passes, all you have to do is log on to DFW Xpress.org click on store and look at the merchandise you can order, its that simple.

LOCK AND LOAD
First day of practice in shoulder pads has ended, and even tho we didn't get a true chance to let the players display their hitting abilities, we did manage to get some excellent conditioning work done, I think the new gadgets that we brought out gave the guys a true test. and the players showed that all of the previous conditioning work paid off, all of the players performed admirably, and I was totally impressed with the results. Wednesdays practice brings a new obstacle we will hit hard and often. We have plenty of Wide Receivers and we will only keep 6, but which 6 we don't know just yet, word of advise, if you have not gotten your equipment, you better get it asap, you are quickly falling behind. I was totally disappointed in the players who don't know the route tree, and you know who you are, and the message that I am sending, is this! If You Don't Know The Route Tree By Wednesday Dec.3rd You Will Not I Repeat You Will Not Be Allowed To Work In The Offense Until You Know Them! This Also Includes The Quarterbacks! You guys just had a week off to study the tree so its no excuse for not knowing it! this lets me know that you are not taking this serious! Defense is looking pretty good, we have a lot of work to do but I am truly confident that the Defense is going to be very fast and very aggressive, with Derrick Blount being moved inside to tackle from strong side defensive end after gaining 20lbs in the off season, and defensive lineman of the year Robert Teal back the Xpress defensive has gotten faster, and stronger. With the departure of Diondre Shamlin being lost in free agency, the Xpress went out and signed Rookie John Kersey. And with the return of veteran Olu Ebo who came into camp 15lbs heavier, and Latalo Kefentse, the defensive line is going great havoc on opposing teams Quarterbacks, this will also take pressure off the Xpress secondary and make them more aggressive in coverage and create more turnovers and improve on the 9 interceptions the secondary had last season. As for the Linebackers, Sam Crawford looks to be the front runner at MLB, rookie Quentin Sarpy looks like he will man the strong side and with the signing of rookie looks to be the front runner at weak side Linebacker. Each Linebacker should finish with at least 50 tackles, a feat that was only accomplished by 1 player last season. To all of the players Remember to keep your head on a swivel! Lets continue to keep the numbers up in practice and keep your eyes on the Magnum Cup!

CRUNCH TIME
What is Crunch Time? Is when you are at your most pivotal moment at a very critical time of an event. CRUNCH TIME is where we will be after thanksgiving when we put on the pads and start hitting, this is where you will show case your abilities to hit, run, block and catch, while the wood is being applied. You will be at a pivotal moment at a critical time of a very important event, Practice. There has been a lot of bragging, boasting, and trash talking, now its time to put up are shut up! just remember ITS NOT PERSONAL ITS JUST BUSINESS so don't take these drills to serious, to the point that you are holding grudges, because in the end, we are one big family and these are the same teammates that you will be going to war and doing battles with every game. Now for you guys that don't fair to well in these drills, keep your head up! and you can still help by playing special teams, and for you guys that are truly pushing for a starting position, you are going to have to bring it! I am already seeing some rookies that are standing out, players like Chris Hicks, Sam Crawford and John Kersey, if they can continue to display the hard work ethic I can truly seeing these guys starting on Saturdays, and with the core group of veterans that have returned, Like Derrick Blount, Carnell Livingston, Gabriel Langley, and Kedrick Ford , this will make the defense faster and more aggressive then last year.

EXPOSURE
The work that has been accomplished in practice thus far has been exceptional, and I appreciate the leadership, that players like Phillip Givens, James Roberts, Melvin Harris and other veterans have displaying in the 2008 Xpress camp. Now its time for you guys and the team to step it up another notch and push it to another level, and lets get ready for some serious contact. For those of you that say you are serious about playing I am about to see, you need to make sure that after the thanksgiving break you have your shoulder pads and ready to rumble between the cones. And for you players that are playing Wr. I am seeing too many drops in practice, and too many wrong routes being ran, concentration is a must! and the closer to the season we get the lower the tolerance will be for mistakes. As for the defense work Harder and push yourself to the limit. The harder you work the more it will payoff in Feb. Just keep in mind that the Xpress will start the best athlete at the position regardless of experience, and those that do not start will be placed on special teams. Just remember if you are not attending practice on a regular basis then you can not show case your talent as much as you need to.

Dedication
What is dedication? it depends on where you are getting the definition from, ETYMOLOGICAL DICTIONARY OF MODERN ENGLISH defines it as, To Proclaim, devote in set words. Websters dictionary defines it as To devote or commit to some cause. Now my definition of the word, Is one word XPRESS! No other word should be used, by playing for the Xpress you have to be all that the definitions from these two books has defined. The Xpress only wants and needs players that want to commit to the organization, hard work, dedication, and a team player attitude. There are plenty veterans players and you know who you are that have not been coming to practice because they are not dedicated, and maybe don't have the guts to tell the staff that they don't want to be part of the Xpress family anymore. Their are some players that I know why they are not at practice and you know who you are, so the message I am sending is not geared toward you! the numbers that we are getting are unacceptable, we are getting a lot accomplished but the numbers could be better! Each practice brings out new talent and the way things are shaping up the Xpress may be starting rookies at key positions, am I scared? No! because the talent level that has come out is better then the Xpress had last year, and I'm very confident that this team is going to be better. We have a good competition at the QB position, a great battle at the WR position, and excellent competition going on in the secondary. The Xpress staff is going to have to work real hard trying to figure out a depth chart when the time comes because the talent level for this years team is very high. Stay tuned to find out how these battles turn out.

WHATEVER IT TAKES
This years theme, Whatever it takes. The reason for this, last years team had a ton of talent but too many its all about me attitudes, this years team has just as much talent with at lot less attitude. This years team wants to work harder about getting better, last years team wanted to be better but did not want to work hard, this years team has the mind set that whatever it takes to be better it is willing to do it, last years team only wanted to complain. What kind of team would I prefer to coach? you tell me. The Xpress has gotten bigger, faster, stronger, and taller. Lets look inside and see, last years team had 3Rbs and only 2 had speed, this years team has 3Rbs so far and all 3 have break away speed. Last years team had a MLB that was 5'9 270lbs and could bench press over 600 lbs, but could not play sideline to sideline and could not fill a hole, this years MLB is 6'2 250 lbs played division 2 football and can run like a deer. Last years offensive line averaged 6'ft 280 lbs this years line is 6'2 315 lbs, last years WRs were 6'0, 5'11, 5'9,5'9,5'8, and 5'7, this years WRs are 6'5, 6'2,6'1,6'0,5'8, and 5'7, last year the Xpress had a T.E. that was 6'4 and had a poor attitude, this years T.E. are 6'4 and 6'6 respectively and are much more talented with a very coachable and aggressive attitude. The players that have come out so far have all had great attitudes, and this makes me want to attend practice, where as last year their were plenty of times that I just flat out hated coming to practice and dealing with those players that had an its all about me attitude. This years Xpress team will in my opinion be the best team that I have ever coached, and I have coached plenty of teams. The only thing this years team has to do is stay hungry and keep the WHATEVER IT TAKES mentality, and if it does then I truly believe we will be playing for the 2009 Magnum Cup!

What IS THE DIFFERENCE
Many people ask what is the difference in Semi-Pro football, and Minor League Football, because neither one gets paid, and you are right neither one gets paid. But let us look at the difference in the two. Semi - Pro has been around for almost 50 years, the term Minor League Football has been around 10 years. Semi-pro was a large group of guys playing football for the enjoyment of their families, while Minor league football is being played by players that still love the game, but some of its athletes have the ambition of trying to get film in hopes of playing at the next level, rather that's playing Arena 2, Arena 1, Canadian Football, are the N.F.L. its all for good reason. Don't get me wrong I am not putting Semi- Pro football down because I myself played 6 years, and because it set the stage for Minor League Football coming to the fore front. Semi-Pro football is now an after thought, and here in the near future all of the top athlete's that have not had a fair chance to make it to the next level, will want to play Minor League Football because the players will be paid, where playing Semi- pro they never will. And their will be no reason to play Semi-pro unless you are playing for just the love of the game. Well their are several leagues out there that call themselves Semi-pro football leagues and the owners have no desire to help any of these athletes get better, and get a true chance. Those owners, and those leagues, and they know who they are. The team owners just want to make money off the players and the league owners just want to make money off the team owners. These are just 2 reasons why I started a Minor League football system, because players will truly get a fair shot and because I want owners to truly be successful in ownership, and by teaming up with J.C. Kimey League Commissioner, ex Dallas Cowboy Lincoln Coleman, and ex Cincinnati Bengal Rickey Dixon that's what we have done. Stay tune for more to come.

WHAT'S TO COME
Every practice brings a day closer to the season and veterans like James Roberts, Phillip Givens, and Kevin Nelson look better and better during each practice, and with each ones positive attitude the Xpress outlook for the 2009 season means nothing but greatness. Such newcomers like rookie Sam Crawford, and 2 big free agent signees Ced Lott and Melvin Harris both signed this year from the now defunct Dallas Titans, that give the Xpress a 6'6" tight end and another veteran receiver and a college Middle Linebacker to shore up an already good defense that is looking to become a great defense, and improve an offense that finished second in the division and 15th in the league in scoring at 23pts per game This years teams is being built for greatness, with an excellent coaching staff, and players that don't have a its all about me and my personal stats attitude, this years team will return 14 returning starters from last years 6-4 team 6 on offense and 8 on defense there is no reason that the 2009 Xpress team should not make a deep playoff run.

DFW XPRESS Start a New Era
THE START OF A NEW ERA
The Dfw Xpress start a new era, with a new attitude and with the most talented athletes from last years Dallas Xpress football team, that finished with a 6-4 record and just barely missing the playoffs. This years Xpress team will be play in the new N.M.L.F. Football League, with their eye on winning the N.M.L.F. championship trophy known as the Magnum Cup. With returning starters like Q.B. Tre Fields the Xpress Co M.V.P, Corey Morrow the teams Defensive lineman of the year and lock down cornerback Cornell Livingston, and a host of other talented returners, throw in a strong free agent group and the Xpress should make a strong showing for the up and coming 2009 season. Their have been some coaching promotion in the Xpress organization Coach Chris Sandifer has been promoted from running backs/receivers coach to offensive coordinator, Coach Udorian Herrod from Special Teams coach to Defensive Line Coach, while Coach Juan Valles is being primed to take over as the new Head Coach of the Xpress for the 2010 season, with these promotions the Xpress look to be more explosive on offense and more aggressive on defense.
